King King & Marly

King King are on a roll. Faced with their army of fans and armfuls of awards, it’s hard to believe that Alan Nimmo (vocals/guitar), Lindsay Coulson (bass), Wayne Proctor (drums) and Bob Fridzema (keys) have come so far, so fast. As Henry Yates of Classic Rock Blues notes, “King King are the hottest draw in British blues-rock”. Yet there’s no smoke and mirrors behind their five-year rise: just killer songs, performed with true passion, by a fist-tight lineup.

Right now, the Glasgow band stand on the brink of their busiest period to date. Fresh from the studio, there’s the hotly anticipated third album, due Spring 2015. On the road, there’s the 34-date UK tour with John Mayall in October 2014, followed by a run of British headline dates next Spring, with plans afoot for wider touring in France, Germany, Scandinavia, and beyond.

Marly Marques Quintet

Née au Luxembourg, mais d’origine portugaise, Marly Marques a découvert sa passion pour le chant toute jeune. Ayant hérité de « l’oreille » de son grand-père angolais et bercée par le Fado côté maternel, elle savait que son amour pour la musique ne la quitterait plus jamais. Suite à une brève formation musicale, elle a chanté dans des chorales, puis dans un groupe de blues. C’est pourtant dans la musique de jazz qu’elle a pu s’épanouir. Le hasard faisant parfois bien les choses et le Luxembourg étant propice aux rencontres improbables, elle a rencontré en 2012 quatre musiciens de jazz confirmés et le courant est tout de suite passé.  Le premier album «So ar sér» du quintette, enregistré en Allemagne, est sorti en mai 2014. 

En août 2014, le Marly Marques 5tet a remporté le « 1er prix du jury » du concours du festival Crest jazz vocal en France.
